A Living Tapestry of Love
My multifaceted work within the dance industry through teaching, performing, and artistic administration seeks to increase the accessibility of the incredible, vulnerable, and empowering medium of individual expression which we know and adore: the performing arts. Below are glimpses of my professional journey as an artist captured in images from the stage and testimonials from my previous collaborators.
"I had auditioned on a whim, as a last ditch attempt to rekindle my love for dance. I have genuinely never enjoyed dancing this much before. Rehearsals became the highlight of my week, since I knew I was going to such a welcoming space both socially and dance-wise. I feel like I improved so much as a dancer over the months we worked together, and a lot of that was due to Hannah giving me the confidence to try."

"I feel like I have improved and grown so much this year, and Hannah has fostered an environment where I'm not afraid to be myself."
EJ Byer-Touhey
Former Cast Member
"I am so glad to have been placed into a cast full of light, collaboration, joy, and of course yapping. I have found so much enjoyment and fulfillment through Hannah's rehearsal process."
Hannah Rosenman
Former Cast Member
"Being part of Hannah's piece was such an incredible experience that I won't forget anytime soon. Everything about being part of this capstone was like being given a hug."
Anjali Hith
Former Cast Member
"Hannah did such a wonderful job at pushing me out of my comfort zone and introducing me to real jazz while creating a safe environment that I felt a lot less scared to improv in, and all this has definitely made me grow as a dancer."

"I'm a 14 year stroke survivor, and I haven't moved like this in all this time. My first time at the class I really was apprehensive, because I hadn't moved in so long, you know? I didn't think that I could. And so little by little, I put one foot in front of the other, started moving, and now I'm even putting on music at home and doing a little dance here and there! I'm not where I used to be, but I'm getting there, and I'm having fun doing it. So I want to thank Hannah, and thank my classmates, and thank Age Strong, and thank God for letting me participate in a program like this."

"For me this class represented a needed continuity... I don't want to stop moving ever again. Being here and meeting the wonderful people, it's kind of phenomenal. I remember many mornings when I had to get up really early and drive in, and I'm grateful to have a reason to get up. It helps me push through. [It's] an inertia that no medical professional could ever help me understand why my body was receding into apathy. And I get here and I meet all of you, and I don't want to leave! I don't want this to stop. I'm really grateful for the leadership that made this happen: for the teachers that show up week after week, and the people that I've met and become friends with."

Student, elder
"I came not knowing what to expect, and when I came I met a beautiful community. I met people who, like me, had some apprehension, but together we learned about each other, and we learned about the movement we could make to see how our body was feeling. I've been doing movement, but not really thinking about how it relates to my body, and I'm thankful. I'm so thankful for the leadership: Hannah, and what she represented, and the patience that she had with us… I think we are all on this journey together, and you know, I hate to see it completed, but I know we'll all meet again."
Leonie
Student, elder
"I'm grateful for this class! We had a wonderful teacher, very patient, and I appreciate all the people in my class. It makes me more in-tune with every part of my body: [we did] things I've never thought of doing before, and it's a good thing. So I really appreciate it, so thanks! Thanks for the organizers, and thanks for you [Hannah], you did a great job."

Hannah lifts her right leg to the side with pointed toes in a grande-développé. Her arms are lifted beside her head in an L-shape. She looks up to her right side, towards her hand. Other dancers stand on either side of Hannah, facing the back of the stage.
Five dancers wearing shades of orange and pink hold one another's shoulders as they lunge forward. The dancer in front holds a lantern.
Hannah performs a tilt jump on the right side with pointed toes and arms in an L-shape. She looks out and down over her left arm.
Hannah sits in a deep, side lunge with her right leg extended. She holds the hands of two other dancers on either side of her, and faces the one on her right, looking into their eyes. Another dancer stands behind Hannah, holding a microphone.
Five dancers stand on a dimly-lit stage, wearing costumes which shimmer in the light. Three of them hold lunges, with their arms extended straight up and down, perpendicular to the floor. In the center of the image, two dancers hold hands in a counter-balance, leaning away from one another in deep lunges.
Six dancers wearing shades of pink and orange hold onto one another in various positions during a contact-improvisation. Four of them are kneeling on the floor, while two are standing up. On the far right, a dancer lifts their leg in an attitude towards the back.
Two dancers hold one another by the wrists and lean backward in a counter balance. The one on the left extends their right arm to reach out towards the audience, and looks over their hand. The one on the right looks at the other dancer.
Hannah (left) extends her arms above her head and arches her back as she falls gracefully toward her right side. She appears to be balancing on the side of one foot, while the other is mid-air. She closes her eyes, with her face pointed up toward the light. Her hair flies behind her head with the momentum of her movement. Another dancer stands on one leg behind her.
With one hand on the floor and one arm extended in the air behind her, Hannah performs an "illusion" step. Her right leg extends in the air above her head in an attitude with her toes pointed, while her left leg remains on the floor. She looks towards the audience. Hannah is wearing a black mask, a black leotard, light blue pants, and black socks.
Five dancers are visible on a stage lit in shades of purple and pink, wearing shades of pink, orange, and lavender. They all smile, spread out in the space in various poses. The dancers in the back hold lanterns.
